Heidi Warrington – Republican – for State Representative, District 43
Four days before she passed away, in one of the last things she did, state Rep. Andrea Schroeder wrote to me and said … “’I would love to see you run for State Representative one day as I know you will serve the community as you have served me and that you will lead our district and state the way I have. You will be my legacy.”
That letter brought me to tears. I knew how sick she was, and the fact that she would send me that letter was and will be the greatest honor I will ever have. It is why I am running, and why I want to continue the work she started.
I first got to know her as we worked together on an important legislative package of healthcare bills. Andy was a brilliant legislator who worked incredibly hard for her district and for the State of Michigan. What an honor it was for me to get to know her so well and to share in her victory as we finally got those bills passed.
As she became more and more ill, fighting the cancer that would eventually take her from us, she asked me to be her volunteer District Representative. It was a great honor to represent her at a number of functions. She believed in me, and she knew of my leadership in my career, and in my leadership in the Republican party which included being President of Greater Oakland Republican Club, 8th Congressional District appointed representative for Oakland County, and State Republican Committee Delegate.
This combination of real-life leadership in my professional career and my political life is why she endorsed me to succeed her.
As state representative, I will continue to serve the citizens of Waterford, Independence, Clarkson and Lake Angelus with the same dedication and hard work Andy Schroeder provided. Having worked with her, it will be my most important priority to represent the 43rd District just as she did!”
Heidi served as a volunteer District Representative for our late state Rep. Andrea Schroeder. Four days before she passed away, Andy wrote Heidi urging her to run for her seat and endorsing Heidi to replace her. Andy said she wanted Heidi to be her legacy!
