Protecting Senior Citizens

With a career in healthcare, Heidi knows we must protect our most vulnerable people, our Senior Citizens.
In this COVID era, we have to assure that they receive the best protection possible.
She will see that Gov. Whitmer’s policy of putting COVID patients into nursing homes will never happen again.
We need laws that will severely punish those who commit crimes against our Seniors.
Heidi will fight to bring harsher sentences to those who try to defraud our Seniors

My first issue priority will be to do whatever the state can to lower inflation and lower the prices of gas, food and other products.

The federal government establishes the monetary policy to fight inflation but there are some things the state can do!
The state can work on the supply chain issues to make goods and services easier to get.
High prices occur when we have supply and demand issues.
When there is high demand and limited supply, prices go up.
But if we can solve some of the supply chain problems that will in turn solve the supply-demand problems that cause prices to increase.

Heidi will fight to assure that schools do not teach Critical Race Theory and other radical ideas.’
She is a strong supporter of schools of choice and charter schools.
Heidi is a strong supporter of a huge educational reform package of bills that passed through the House and Senate last year.
- The bills provide millions of dollars for reading scholarships.
- They provided for $500 million in new investment in our students through student opportunity grants.
  - These grants would equip working families who have special needs, emotional or learning challenges, and those who couldn’t otherwise afford it to get extra hep paying for tutors, internet access, textbooks, and more.
  - Unfortunately, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer vetoed these bills.
Heidi believes parents HAVE the right to make decisions about their child’s education.
She understands how important it is to address mental health in schools and she will find innovative ideas to promote strong mental health among our students.
Heidi has a COVID policy that will allow parents to make decisions for their children.
She believes parents of kids in K-12 public schools should have the right to determine whether their child should be vaccinated.

Mental Health and healthcare in general are other important priorities are a statewide system of care for cost reduction, information sharing, health equality in time-sensitive emergencies
Mental health services through crisis systems are effective and we should do everything we can to expand appropriations on Crisis Stabilization Units and school based health centers.

She will work to keep taxes and fees as low as possible.
Heidi will work for the principals of limited government.
Thomas Jefferson embraced the idea that “that government which governs least, governs best. Heid agrees completely with that statement.
Heidi is opposed to the oppressive government regulations unleashed against business, regulations that have expanded beyond belief in this COVID era.
She believes we must have transparency in government to prevent unnecessary intrusion into our lives.
Heid opposes tax giveaways and corporate welfare.
She wants government to address unfunded liabilities and for it to invest in infrastructure.
